Livelihood Support

Many communities and regions in Nigeria suffer prolonged economic devastation due to security challenges caused by conflicts between farmers and herdsmen. This has resulted to deaths, displacements and loss of income.

Gede is addressing this households’ vulnerability to financial and other shocks and stress through its ‘Village Savings and Loan Association’ (VSLA) approach in Benue state.

Over 520 farmers including women, people with disabilities and internally displaced persons are empowered to improve their economic status through the activities of the VSLA groups, which mainly focused on income diversification from savings and loans among members.

Local farmers are trained on the VSLA approach and supported with items and seedlings to expand their yields.
